Report: Mnuchin, Congress to mull lifting sanctions from En+ Thu

WASHINGTON, Jan 9 (PRIME) -- U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has agreed to meet with democrats in the U.S. Congress on Thursday to discuss lifting sanctions from Russian aluminum giant UC RUSAL, multi-industry holding En+ Group, and EuroSibEnergo, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday quoting an unnamed government official.

On Tuesday, officials of seven committees of the U.S. House of Representatives asked the Department of the Treasury to postpone lifting sanctions imposed against companies of Russian tycoon Oleg Deripaska until they receive answers to some questions.

On December 19, the Treasury said it will lift the sanctions against the companies in 30 days, but retain sanctions against Deripaska personally.

In April, the U.S. imposed sanctions against 38 Russian tycoons, officials and companies including Deripaska and his assets.
